Masía Ángela has over 200 century-old carob trees bagged in wire mesh and ready-to-go. We have trees up to 4.5 metres tall in a container, with trunks 3 metres wide.
Ceratonia siliqua is native to the Mediterranean region but is also grown in other warm areas. Its main characteristics include:
- It grows to an average height of 5-6 metres
- It is an evergreen tree
- Cold hardy (to -6°C)
- It is slow growing
- It does not need much water to grow and is drought resistant
- The seeds, of uniform size and weight, lent their name to the carat, the unit of weight used in jewellery
