Ever since Armando Iannucci ceded control over his HBO political sitcom Veep in 2015, we've been eagerly waiting for his next great contribution to TV. In the meantime, he wrote and directed the sharp, surprisingly venomous The Death of Stalin, but now he's headed back to the premium cable network for Avenue 5, a futuristic space comedy starring Hugh Laurie. We know. We fucking know.

Not much is known about Avenue 5 yet, with only a pilot officially greenlit. It's set in the near future, with Laurie playing the captain of the titular spacecraft. Some of it will be set on earth. A lot of it will be set in space. People will talk really fast and swear creatively at each other. That last part's conjecture on my part but I'm willing to put money on it.

The show will reunite Iannucci and Laurie, who worked together on Season Four of Veep, with the British actor in a guest role. Laurie will also be in Iannucci's next film, The Personal History of David Copperfield, due out next year.
