Obituary
Ora Dean Olivier-Papillion, 73, was born June 21st, 1950 in Lafayette, LA to the late Gilbert and Bernice Olivier. She was a graduate of W.O. Boston, Class of 1968. Ora resided in Lake Charles, LA most of her life. She was married to Philip Papillion for 32 years and was a faithful and lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Ora was a Eucharistic Minister for 15 years and in 1997 she was awarded Ministries of Communion Award. Ora enjoyed playing pitty pat, bingo, and going to the casino. She also had a appetite for fried fish and potato salad. She made the best spaghetti salad. Ora was called "Momma" by her children; "Deanie" by her stepkids; and "Mamee" by her grandkids. She was very active with her children from being a Girl Scout Troop Leader, LCB Booster Club Member and served on the Mid-City Baseball League Board.
Ora departed this life on Thursday, September 7, 2023 in Lake Charles, LA. She was preceded in death by her loving parents Gilbert and Bernice Olivier, Sister Patsy Wiltz and Brother-in-law, Earl Wiltz. Sisters-in-law; Priscilla Thibodeaux & Juanita Powers. Brothers-in-law; John Papillion, Irvin Papillion, Rayfield Papillion, Peter Papillion, & Vincent Papillion.
Together Ora and Philip had a blended family consisting of 10 children, Gilbert (Tiffani) Jackson, Erik Jackson, Glenna Jackson, Terrence Jackson, Autumn Olivier, Carla (Randy) Mingo, Tefferey (Tomicha) Papillion, Christopher (Sonya) Papillion, Elias Papillion, & Richsetta (Ashley) Papillion. Grandson Isaiah (Rozalyn) Jackson that they helped raised. Brother John (Gwen) Olivier Sr. , & Sister Vera Olivier- Caine. Brothers-in-Law; James Papillion, Paul Papillion, & Michael Lee Papillion. Sisters-in-Law; Laura Person, Sandra Papillion, & Emily Smith. 23 grandchildren & 18 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
