To ‘coexist’ is to tolerate and embrace other religions.
I get that the noble idea of “can’t we all just get along” and I will do my best to be kinder than neccesary to anyone I come in contact with, however, my christian faith commands me to “stand guarded, confident and ready to give an answer to the hope that is in me.” 1 Peter 3:15.
You’ve heard it, ‘if we stand for nothing, we fall for anything.’ Much like the goal of coexisting, in which we see the result of that right now in society. We live in a culture that feelings matter more than facts. Post-modernized churches have become tolerant of man-made precepts and compromising the power and truths of the Word. BUT Scripture is always, without a doubt, necessary. If not then what would I be standing for? I am not of the world but of God, which is supposed to look different, act different, and think differently than the world. Romans 12:2.
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.” (John 14:6)
Matthew 7 say that we are to have a love like Christ’. We share the truth because we love and care. We don’t simply ‘coexsist’ to show this. You cannot love the world and love Christ.
Did you know that God tells us that there will not be world peace and that we are to be armed and ready? The more the WORLD seeks for peace, the more reason for war. Peace is for God’s people and it is a promise. Truth is not about matter of opinion.
No God – No Peace. Know God – Know Peace.
Isaiah 59:8 says, “The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.”
SO #1. The Bible denies the COEXIST man-made theory AND #2. it teaches Christians why there will never be world peace. Matthew 28:18-20 commands us to teach His Word, the only Truth there is . Romans 3:4 “Let God be true, and every man a liar.” The more the world seeks for peace, the more war they generate. Romans 12:8 does say to live peaceably with everyone, but not to minimize this statement to misrepresent that all paths lead to God.
Why? No fear of the Lord = no inner peace = not outer peace for others. Repeat.
“The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.” (Psa. 29:11) HIS PEOPLE. Those who seek Him, fear Him and do His will.
Peter tells us in Acts 2 and Jesus tells us in Mark 16, “Repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins.” Once we become His disciples we can follow His commands and “go and teach to all the nations.” Matthew 28:18-20

Very interesting! I agree with your thoughts and have felt at times unfairly criticized as a Christian for being so-called exclusive (“really? you people know the ONLY way to heaven?”). We are expected to be tolerant, yet we are often scorned instead of tolerated–as Christ said we should expect to be.

You nailed it! It’s hard to explain that it isn’t that I know it all or nearly enough but I do know that the Bible is the same yesterday today and tomorrow and we are not in any position to ‘change’ it. If we love one another as we are told, we will want to share the truth and listen to it as well. Thanks for the comment!

It is hard for people to understand, and I think perhaps it comes from the judgmental hypocrisy of others believers treating people wrongly. But the sins of the father don’t go to the son and vice versa.
I try my best to be as open as I can and gently. I try to explain it to others as, “It’s a form of respect to God, I have to keep my word to Him.” That’s as simple as it gets. It isn’t to make anyone upset in truth, their reaction is a choice, just like our relationship with Him is a choice.

Thanks for sharing that! Very helpful. Loving and gentle is exactly what we have to be. Not in it for ourselves but to be sure we try to get others to heaven! ❤️ I believe that sometimes when others argue or ‘condemn,’ it is a matter of their own convictions.

Very well said. Sadly, many of those seeking tolerance for themselves are unwilling to extend it to others. And to be honest, coexistence simply isn’t possible, for the Bible tells us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. But at the same time, Christ does tell us to love them. Only through Christ can we genuinely love those who are opposed to us without losing the distinction from them.

Such a powerful paragraph! Such truth! I wish so badly that we could love like Christ showed us and be willing to learn the truth of the scriptures and help each other get to heaven! Sadly, we live in a selfish and perverse generation but that is where we can shine and stand out!
