The 77th annual Miss Great Britain contest was held on Friday, October 21, at the Athena in Leicester, and featured an additional two competitions for ladies aged over 30 and over 45.

The over-30s pageant – Ms Great Britain – was introduced in 2020 to mark the competition’s 70th year and was followed by the Ms Great Britain Classic competition in 2021 for those over 45 following an “overwhelming response”.

She added that, having been raised herself by two feminist mothers, she’s determined to raise her three young boys as feminists to encourage other parents to educate their sons and make the future safer for girls and women.

Property investor and entrepreneur Amy Meisak, 28, from Glasgow was crowned Miss Great Britain 2022 and 51-year-old hair and makeup artist, Nicoll Moss, from Kent was crowned Ms Great Britain Classic 2022.

This year saw Maureen Lewis, 73, mother, grandma, and former head teacher from Cardiff compete as the oldest lady to ever compete in the competition’s 77 year history.

National director, Saffron Hart said “This year saw a record number of applications and women wanting to compete in Miss Great Britain. As a pageant that proudly stands at the forefront of modern day pageantry we’re excited to continue to evolve and grow. Our contestants come from all different backgrounds and bring so much more to the competition than just how they look physically.

“They’re doctors, dentists, business owners, mothers, grandmothers and lawyers to name a few. They’re women competing to make a difference in their local communities, passion projects and to develop themselves as a person.”

This year, Miss Great Britain chose to support Leicester-based charity Alex's Wish, Curing Duchenne, and Cancer Research UK. Over £48,000 has so far being raised this year.
