I THOUGHT IT WAS A REAL GUN OR SOMETHING, SO I STARTED FREAKING OUT. REPORTER: THE 12-YEAR-OLD WAS STANDING STEPS FROM HIS BROCKTON HOME EARLY EVENING WITH FRIENDS MONDAY WAITING FOR A RIDE, WHEN A BLACK ACURA PULLED UP AND FIRED PAINTBALL PELLETS DIRECTLY AT THE CHILDREN. >> THEY JUST PULLED UP. I MEAN, I DON’T KNOW HOW THEY THOUGHT THAT THE KIDS WOULD EVEN BE OK, AND THEN AS SOON AS THEY HEARD HIM SCREAM THEY PULLED OFF , EVEN FASTER. REPORTER: CODY’S MOTHER SAYS HER SON WAS SCREAMING SO LOUDLY, HE WAS SO UPSET, SHE COULDN’T EVEN ASSESS THE SITUATION AT FIRST. >> I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF. REPORTER: A DAY LATER, SHE’S STILL SHAKING. DOCTORS TOLD THE FAMILY CODY’S RETINA IS DISLOCATED, HIS CORNEA SCRATCHED. >> I’M TRYING TO RATIONALIZE IT , LIKE WHAT WERE THEY EVEN THINKING? At least 4 people hit by paintballs Monday in Brockton

Twelve-year-old Cody Hilts says he's nauseous and in pain after he was shot in the eye with a paintball Monday. He's one of at least four people hit in drive-by paintball shootings, Brockton police said. Officers said they are now hunting for the shooters. The first incident was reported on Summer Street around 11 a.m., where a woman said she was hit but not injured. Two victims were hit by paintballs just before 6 p.m. at North Warren Avenue and Loucraft Avenue. Police said one victim was hit in the left eye and another was hit in the right arm. A third paintball shooting occurred a few minutes later on Ford Street, police said. That's where Hilts was hit in the eye.He told officers the paintballs were fired from a dark sedan. Brockton police said officers in Whitman also received a similar report regarding a vehicle with the same description. Hilts, is now wearing a bandage over his eye and said his vision may be impacted by the injury caused by the paintball. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Brockton Police Department Detective Bureau at 508-941-0234.
