A facelift is a cosmetic surgery procedure known to give the face a youthful, lifted appearance. It reduces sagging of the skin and tightens facial tissues. But going under the knife isn't for everyone– so here's how you can get a sculpted, toned face using just makeup!

The viral makeup hack emphasizes blending all applied makeup in an upwards direction, and strategically angling it all to give the illusion of a facelift. So yes, you too can get a faux-lift using this makeup technique.

Base makeup

Creating a smooth, even base as a canvas for makeup application is the first step towards achieving a flawless look. It also helps hydrate the skin and prevents your makeup from drying out. Blending the base in with a beauty blender or makeup sponge gives the most even, and effective, coverage- creating the perfect canvas for your facelift.

Minimal concealer

When it comes to concealer, a 'less is more' philosophy works well. Applying concealer on the inner and outer corners of the eye and taking it upwards to lift the eyes always gives a great look. This helps create beautiful results while using less product!

Blend contour upwards

While contouring your face, it is essential to remember to always blend upwards. This is easier to do with a cream contour, which not only lifts your face, but also keeps your contour from looking shabby.

Blush placement

To achieve a lifted look, it's best to follow the blush draping technique. The idea is that instead of blushing the apples of the cheeks, it's applied on the high points of the face- making your face look more shaped and snatched. Applying blush on the cheekbones and even on the temples will help sculpt and contour the face.

Highlighting up and out

A slight hint of highlight at the tip of the nose, at the cheekbones, and at the high point of the eyebrows can highlight the bone structure, making the skin look tighter and perfectly sculpted.

Tip: Always remember to blend in an up and out direction while brushing over the cheekbones.

Winging eyeliner at 45°

Winging your eyeliner can definitely help lift your face and eye areas. Instead of bringing the eyeliner down after crossing your pupil region, it can be taken upwards to give a lifted appearance. This is easier to trace by first keeping your pen at a 45 degree angle and then drawing the wing out- creating an upwards tilted cat eye. It also makes the eyes look bigger and brighter.

Lifting lashes with mascara

To give your lashes the ultimate lift, try to concentrate mascara on the middle of your eyes instead of on the sides. This can induce a lifted doe-eyed effect, which never fails to amaze.

Brushing the brows

While brushing your brows to create volume, taking the brush upwards and giving yourself a subtle arch will give a tight, elongated look to the face. It will also make your eyes look fresher and more awake!
