If you're experiencing Sambas fatigue, you aren't alone. While there are hordes of tennis shoes on the market, the Adidas sneaker has become the inescapable shoe of the summer. But some people aren't giving in to the shoe du jour. Lately celebrities have been returning to one particular stalwart: Converse sneakers.

When Timothée Chalamet strolled through the streets of SoHo on July 18 in blue Comme des Garçons Play x Converse hi-tops, some joked that the shoe looked dated. GQ even wrote that the actor was “dressing like it's 2012 all over again.” But the actor is no bandwagonner. A true fan, he wore them to the 2021 Met Gala. Really, is there anything that says “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” quite like a pair of Chuck Taylors?

But Chalamet isn't alone in endorsing Converse. Stella Maxwell returned to London after celebrating Barbara Palvin and Dylan Sprouse's wedding in Hungary, trading in her glamorous bridesmaid look for a lowkey ensemble. On a recent jaunt through Marylebone, Maxwell's black hi-top Chucks peeked out from her lightweight blue pleated pants, which she paired with a black patch-laden jacket worn over a black crop top.

But there is arguably no bigger proponent for the return of Converse than Tyler, The Creator. The rapper's latest GOLF le FLEUR* collection with the sneaker giant, which he teased on Instagram on July 17, dropped on July 20 at noon EST. Featuring Tyler's digital leopard motif in four different colorways, these limited edition Converse are a fresh take on the lo-top Chuck 70s.

So, if you're feeling uninspired by your current options, break out a pair of Chuck Taylors. Whether you're drawn to the wide laces and technicolor patterns of Tyler, The Creator's GOLF le FLEUR*s, want to relive the Indie Sleaze days in Timothée Chalamet's CDG Plays, or admire the simplicity of Stella Maxwell's black hi-tops, there's a pair of Converse sneakers out there for everybody.
