From the Chrysler Building to the Met (the museum and the opera house), many of New York’s best-known landmarks are adorned with murals, beautiful proof that interior décor can be a literal work of art. A new book out today from Rizzoli—with an introduction by Graydon Carter—Murals of New York City, unveils the best of the boroughs’ frescoes, some of which are in plain view (Lincoln Center) but many of which are tantalizingly hidden behind closed doors.
