Rob Lowe to star in Fox comedy pilot

Rob Lowe will star in the Fox comedy pilot  "The Grinder."

Rob Lowe is taking another crack at broadcast-network comedy, starring in a Fox pilot, The Grinder.

The Parks and Recreation veteran. who also is an executive producer, will play an actor who has played an attorney, specifically "beloved TV lawyer Dean Sanderson," who is known as The Grinder, according to the show description.

The concept is described like this: "When (the character's) long-running hit series comes to an end, he finds himself at a crossroads in life and decides to move back to his small hometown, thinking he has the experience to take over his family's law firm."

Jake Kasdan (Bad Teacher, New Girl) will direct the pilot, which is being produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television and will be under consideration for a series pickup.

Lowe is in London filming Apocalypse Slough, a 10-episode drama that will be shown on NBC. He also will appear in the film Monster Trucks, which is scheduled to be released at Christmas.
