The flag of Burundi is vibrant green, red, and white; with three stars at the centre of a white circle. Children can colour in this flag using anything from colouring pencil to poster paints.

Why is colouring beneficial to children?

Colouring is a great activity for children of all ages. Colouring regularly promotes mindfulness and a sense of calm, as children have to concentrate and focus on the task at hand, letting most other thoughts slip away.

Colouring activities are also fantastic for developing fine motor skills and the tiny bones in children's fingers and hands. The more they scribble, the more their strength grows, and the more their pencil control improves.

When colouring, children enter a world of imagination. They could go the traditional route by making things a shade of real life, but they could also go creatively crazy and turn colouring sheets into an imaginarium of magical wonder. Have you ever seen a pink dog? That doesn't mean one can't exist on a colouring page. The sky is blue, right? Not if you don't want it to be. When colouring, the world becomes your oyster - at least in-between the lines, anyway.
