Could we really be getting a Hannah Montana prequel in the near future?

Thanks to Hollywood Life, we learned this week a prequel series or movie may be in the works. One of the show's alums, the one and only Billy Ray Cyrus, spoke with Hollywood Life earlier this week about the possibility of more Hannah Montana. He told the outlet, "They’re talking about doing a prequel, which to me, I would do that in a heartbeat, because that means I get to get my mullet back."

This is an important update for longtime fans of Hannah Montana. Admittedly, Billy Ray's update sounds super vague. We don't know whether the prequel would be a movie or TV series or if this would appear on Disney+, Disney Channel, or, if it's a movie, in theaters. Even more importantly, we have zero idea if Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus would be returning (Miley has paid homage to the character in the past year). It does make sense that Disney would consider returning to the world of Hannah Montana, since it's already working on a revival for another popular 2000s TV show, Lizzie McGuire.

The original Disney Channel series debuted in 2006, effectively launching then unknown Miley to superstardom before ending in 2011 after four seasons. A feature film was also released during the show's run, 2009's Hannah Montana: The Movie.

So, even though it's all very easy to get hyped for a Hannah Montana prequel, we should also try to stay chill. All this prequel talk is fairly vague and we shouldn't get too carried away by Billy Ray's comments. That said, a Hannah Montana prequel would definitely be something to see.
