This has been confirmed by the clubs as they plan to build a brand new stadium on the old site

It's time to say goodbye to the San Siro. It's been rumoured to be happening for a while in Italy but those rumours have turned into a reality now. The stadium, which hosts both AC Milan and Inter Milan, is to be demolished.

The news was confirmed in Lausana by Scaroni and Antonello, the respective presidents of the two Milan clubs.

This will see the famous Giuseppe Meazza knocked down before they move a few metres down the road to build a new, modern stadium in its place.

"We'll make a new San Siro in the same area where the old one stood. The old stadium will be knocked down and in its place we'll build a new stadium along with new buildings. It'll be a very complicated process," the Milan president confirmed.
