“This is Heartache” is the opening song from Alexz Johnson, a Canadian singer songwriter who simply just knows how to write a song. She knows how to write a song that makes you think, that makes you empathize with what she’s feeling, hanging on every word with the icing on the cake in the form of a catchy chorus. The room is completely quiet as she plays her song “Skin” which is driven by her insightful lyrics. The melodies that she writes are big infectious hooks that show off all the corners of her voice without being self indulgent in the slightest. She has a beautiful bridge between her full voice and falsetto. This song was also featured on the show that she stars in called “Instant Star”. Her sound is ever so commercial but ever so credible at the same time. She truly is a stunning performer, aesthetically and musically, with everything just piecing together perfectly.
