Tiramisu for Two: An Easy, Make-Ahead Valentine's Day Dessert

Share this delicious dessert with someone you love. It’s the ideal treat after a romantic dinner in and saves you time, space in the fridge, and unwanted leftovers by not making a full batch. This tiramisu recipe is perfectly sweetened and has just the right amount of punch from the booze-spiked filling. The surprising twist is the use of easy-to-find cream cheese instead of traditional mascarpone cheese.

The cream cheese is whipped with heavy cream, confectioner’s sugar, and bourbon or rum and layered into two glasses with coffee-soaked ladyfingers. Chill the tiramisu cups for a few hours or prepare them up to two days ahead, and dessert is checked off the list!  

Marsala wine, Baileys, dark rum, Kahlua, or Frangelico are all great swaps for the bourbon. For a non-alcoholic version, use two teaspoons of vanilla extract for added depth and a sweet fragrance.

Ingredients

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • 1/4 cup confectioner's sugar

  • 1 Tbsp bourbon or dark rum

  • 6 ladyfingers (from a 7-oz. pkg., such as Savoiardi), halved crosswise

  • 1/2 cup brewed espresso or strong coffee, cooled

  • 1 cup fresh raspberries, divided, plus more for topping

  • 1 oz bittersweet chocolate (from a 3-oz. bar)

Directions

  1. Beat cream cheese in a medium bowl with an electric mixer on high speed until creamy, about 1 minute. Add heavy cream, sugar, and bourbon; beat on high speed until smooth and thickened, about 2 minutes.

  2. Dip 6 ladyfinger halves in espresso for 5 seconds, turning to coat. In each of 2 (12-ounce) straight-sided glasses, place 3 pieces in an even layer. Top with 1/4 cup raspberries. Spoon about 1/3 cup cream cheese mixture over raspberries. Repeat layers, ending with cream cheese mixture. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours and up to 2 days.

  3. Grate desired amount of chocolate over top of each tiramisu using a Microplane. Top with raspberries.
