Description

Yucca filamentosa 'Excalibur' has a compact form and a unique bluish color. The edges of its dusky blue, sword-shaped leaves are adorned with curly white filaments. Mature plants produce 4'-5' stalks of creamy white bells that are visited by hummingbirds. This evergreen perennial forms basal offsets and may eventually form a large clump. Yucca 'Excalibur' is a nice size for containers and also great used as a focal point in the border.

Also known as Adam's Needle, or Spanish Bayonet, Yucca filamentosa is native to much of the eastern half of the United States from New York and Massachusetts south to Florida and west to Texas and Nebraska. It is typically found on dunes, beaches, sunny portions of woodlands and forests, roadsides, and other disturbed areas.

Yucca filamentosa 'Excalibur' prefers full sun to light shade and requires well-drained, average to poor soil. It is drought tolerant, long-lived, suitable for containers and dry soils.
