Wayne M Christensen 1960-2024 Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son passed away Monday January 22, 2024, at the age of 64 at his home in Yulee, Florida.

Wayne was born in Salt Lake City on January 5, 1960, to Grant and Ora Dean Christensen. He grew up in Holladay, Utah and graduated from Olympus High School. After graduation, he served in the New York City-Spanish Speaking LDS Mission. Following his mission, Wayne met his life-long sweetheart, Donnie, at a Young Single Adults dance. They married on September 2, 1982, in the Jordan River Temple. They resided for most of their marriage in various parts of Utah. Wayne and Donnie have 5 children and 7 grandchildren.

Wayne worked as a General Contractor and built many beautiful custom homes across the Salt Lake Valley. He took great pride in his craft and had several homes featured in the Utah Parade of Homes. Wayne was a master draftsman and architect. He was an expert, very precise, and did all his drafting manually long before CAD came along.

Wayne was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held several callings such as Elder’s Quorum President, Emergency Preparedness Specialist, and Ward Mission Leader. He also served at the Jordan River Temple for many years.  Wayne loved the outdoors and cultivated a love of off-road vehicles with his wife and children. They often went four-wheeling in the Wasatch Mountains and loved to frequent their favorite spot that Wayne dubbed “Water Creek Alley”.  Wayne had an endless supply of “Wayne-isms” or Wayne euphemisms. If you spent enough time with Wayne, you’d soon learn that lotion was code for a drink or the BBQ sauce, that word was never used for actual lotion. Ice cubes could also be known as “floor warpers” since left long enough on a wood floor, they’d warp the floor. All of his kids are fluent in this special language of his and find themselves using his special words at random times quite frequently.

Wayne truly loved people. His life’s greatest mission was to be selfless and Christlike. He tried so hard every day of his life to serve others and do good by anyone who was fortunate enough to cross his path. He loved the Gospel and spent his life drawing closer and closer to God. He instilled in his children a service mentality and truly taught them how to be loving and kind. Wayne was truly one of the Greats and was the epitome of a Good Person. On Wayne’s birthday, he had a tradition of letting his kids pick a present so they could celebrate on his special day and feel just as special as he was feeling. He always wanted to make sure everyone felt loved.

Wayne is survived by his beloved wife, Donnie (Donetta). Children: April (Joe) Bey, Josh (Jessica) Christensen, Skylar (Trista) Christensen, Spencer Christensen, and Kylee (Marissa) Christensen. Grandchildren: Alexis, Jaden, Serenity, Wyatt, Noelle, Oakley, and Eleanor. Siblings: Ronald Christensen, Rosalie Nance, Brent Christensen.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents: Grant & Ora Dean Christensen. Siblings: Melinda Jansen, Alan Christensen, Steven Christensen, and Karen Christensen.
