Cindy Crawford rose to fame in the 90s along with Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell. The four of them changed the established script in the fashion world with overwhelming personalities and a charisma that attracted the spotlight from around the world.

In January 1990, the cover of Vogue magazine became almost instantly iconic with the top models posing with photographer Peter Lindbergh. On the streets of New York, in jeans and no flashy clothes, normality was key to understanding the success of this memorable cover.

Her breakthrough on the catwalks was unforgettable. Apple TV has prepared a documentary series, whose name is 'The Supermodels', which collects the testimonies and episodes of the four protagonists. This production premiered last Wednesday, September 20.

Cindy Crawford and Linda Evangelista agree that everything "was crazy, we were like the Beatles". One of the hardest facts of the documentary is the moment in which Naomi Campbell confesses her problems with drugs that, as she says were killing her.

Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere, a failed marriage

Another of the subjects covered in this documentary is Cindy Crawford's marriage to Richard Gere. The model, then 22 years old, said 'I do' to the 39-year-old actor. They ended up divorcing in 1995, as one of the main stumbling blocks was age. "At the beginning of a relationship, when you're a young woman, you say: 'Do you like baseball? I like baseball. Do you really like Tibetan Buddhism? I might like that. I'll give it a try," Crawford said.

She herself confesses that, at first, "you're willing to mold yourself around whoever you're in love with," but it can't be that way your whole life. "I was still 22, and as a young woman I was still finding myself and discovering who I was and who I wanted to be... when he was 39," the model concluded.
