We are not living in the late '90s anymore and yet Limp Bizkit keps proving they are still gathering thousands of fans together for some of the biggest music festivals in the world. They still offer concerts all around the world but the recent performance in Argentina's Lollapalooza became viral due to Fred Durst's cosplay during the presentation. In recent days, the world was shocked by the announcement that Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama passed away at the early age of 68. Pretty much the entire world knows about this series, it is widely considered one of the most influential everywhere. Durts came out to perform in the festival with a colorful outfit and the same beard Master Roshi wore in more than one Dragon Ball episode.
The Lollapalooza crowd loved Limp Bizkit
To those who are aware of that Nu Metal era in the late '90s, you will know that this band's concerts in America pretty much always turned into chaos. During that time, the post-grunge generation was angry at the world and bands like this were the perfect escaping method. But in Argentina, people seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves even as Fred Durst and the band rocked at the beat of 'Break Stuff'. Lead guitarist Wes Borland was also in his usual freaky disguises but the real surprise was watching Fred Durst pay homage to Toriyama.
Because Argentina is one of the many Latin American countries where Dragon Ball became a cultural phenomenon. When the mangaka passed away, Argentina was one of the many places around the world that gathered in mass to bid farewell to the series' creator. Fred Durst seemed to understand that perfectly well as he decided to wear this Master Roshi cosplay. At least that is what everybody seems to think of this outfit but the frontman has to come out and confirm that was his intention. For now, keeping that image and that idea of the Toriyama homage is what seems like the most logical explanation.
