The Simpsons Teases Upcoming NFT Episode

The Simpsons Teases Upcoming NFT Episode

The beloved animated series, The Simpsons, has dropped a teaser trailer for its upcoming season 35, and it appears that the show is diving into the world of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). While this move has generated excitement, some critics argue that the NFT theme might be passé, as other shows like South Park and Futurama have already explored this territory.

What’s intriguing is that The Simpsons had already teased its NFT connection earlier. In July, the show released an NFT-themed poster for its special Halloween episode, “Treehouse of Horror XXXIV.” This poster featured iconic NFT collections such as Bored Apes, CryptoPunks, and Doodles.

Originally intended for Season 34, these episodes were delayed. According to the Fandom Wiki, the plot centered around Marge dealing with an NFT onslaught aimed at animated characters, orchestrated by Mr. Teeny, in a satirical take reminiscent of Black Mirror’s Bandersnatch.

By the time The Simpsons airs its NFT-themed episode in October 2023, the NFT craze may have lost some of its luster. NFTs are still of interest to the American public, ranking among the most popular crypto-related search terms. However, the days of mass hysteria and hype around NFTs have waned.

The hope is that The Simpsons can inject fresh satirical humor into the NFT space, appealing to both NFT enthusiasts and the show’s dedicated fanbase. This could potentially reignite interest in this unique form of digital asset.

As fans eagerly await the NFT-themed episode, it remains to be seen how The Simpsons will tackle this digital phenomenon and whether it can provide a unique perspective on the subject.
