Dress up like Elvis Presley and get free food at Chuy's on Jan. 8

A Chuy's customer dresses up like Elvis for the restaurant's annual Elvis Birthday Bash.

In honor of Elvis Presley's birthday on Monday, Jan. 8, Tex-Mex restaurant Chuy's will host its annual Elvis Birthday Bash.

During the event on Monday, customers who dress up like Elvis or Priscilla Presley will get a free entree of their choice, according to a press release from Chuy's.

Customers can also get $1 off the restaurant's Elvis-themed entrees including its Elvis Green Chile Fried Chicken and the Elvis Presley Memorial Combo.

Chuy's will have frozen Blue Hawaiians and limited edition Elvis t-shirts for sale during the birthday bash.

Nourish Knoxville Farmers Market

Nourish Knoxville will host a Winter Farmers Market from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at Central United Methodist Church, 201 3rd Ave.

The event will include pasture-raised meats, eggs, winter produce, herbs, plants, honey, baked goods, artisan foods, soap, quality handmade crafts and others. Shopping will take place inside, and food trucks will be available outside. No pets are allowed inside.

The farmers market accepts SNAP cards. It will take place every other Saturday in through April 21 including Jan. 13 and 27, Feb. 10 and 24, March 10 and 24 and April 7 and 21.

Oak Ridge Winter Farmers Market

Oak Ridge's Winter Farmers Market returns from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, in the St. Mary's School Gym, 23 Vermont Ave., Oak Ridge. The event is free, and it will include winter produce, artisan breads and pastries, locally raised tilapia and hydroponic lettuce, handmade soaps, lotions and crafts and red tomatoes and others.

All vendors take cash. Some take debit cards, credit cards and SNAP/EBT cards. 

The farmer's market will have a free kids club from 10 a.m.-noon with Tennessee School Health Coordinator Jen Laurendine. The farmers market will continue on Saturdays through Feb. 17.

Elkmont Exchange beer, meat tasting

Elkmont Exchange, 745 N. Broadway, will hold an evening of pairing beer with charcuterie from 7-9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15.

The tasting event will feature Elkmont Exchange house-cured meats and beers presented to by the restaurant's chefs and brewers. They will assist with tasting notes for each combination and detail the process of creating a successful beer and food pairing. 

Event tickets include five of Elkmont Exchange beers paired with five selections of its house-cured charcuterie.
