It's getting warmer out, so you know what that means: it's time to break out the bright eyeshadows, radiant-finish foundations, and extra glowy highlighters.

Even though COVID-19 is still a reality, summer 2022 is gearing up to be more normal than the past few years. With festivals and travel back on, it's the perfect time to debut the looks you've been experimenting with all winter long.

But when you do meet up with friends — given that face masks are still a heavily-worn accessory — this summer's makeup trends are once again heavy on the eyes and light on the lips.

For those who are already fans of eyeliner, take the look to the next level by upgrading to a graphic negative space cat eye. If eyeshadow is more your speed, skip the sheer finishes and try a touch of bold color on the inner corners of the eyes. As for the rest of your face, flushed cheeks or a sun-kissed glow are always foolproof options.

Scroll through for our 10 favorite summer makeup trends. Then, go try them out yourself.

1. Sun-Kissed Glow

Glowy skin is always a good idea, but nothing screams "summer" like sun-kissed skin and eyes. Here, Nam Vo — the makeup artist behind Dewy Dumpling skin — demonstrates how to do an allover radiant look.

Get the Look: Use the contour shade from Uoma Beauty's Double Take Contour Stick as a bronzer and eyeshadow, then add your glow with the highlighter end.

2. Double Winged Eyeliner

Love a cat eye? Great! A negative space, double winged look is even cooler. Take a cue from Zendaya and lean into the trend by drawing a wing along the upper and lower lash lines, and one just above the crease.

Get the Look: Reach for a fine tip gel eyeliner like Lancôme's Drama Liqui-Pencil Longwear Eyeliner. The creamy formula will glide on smoothly without smudging. Better yet, take another cue from the actress and play with contrasting colors like royal blue and white to make the look your own.

3. No-Makeup Makeup

It's almost summertime and the living is easy — so simplify your makeup look, too. Makeup artist Nina Park went for simple and fresh when creating HoYeon Jung's clean no-makeup makeup.

Get the Look: Park used an arsenal of Chanel makeup products on Jung, but for an even, dewy base, try N°1 De Chanel's Revitalizing Foundation. The lightweight formula is infused with moisturizing and protective skincare ingredients for a natural, second-skin finish.

4. Dopamine Eyeshadow

There's a reason why colorful clothes are trending: a vibrant outfit is an instant mood-lifter. The same goes for makeup, too. Take this sherbert-inspired halo eyeliner look Jo Baker created for Lucy Boynton for example.

Get the Look: The color combos are endless, so choose your own adventure. MAC Color Excess Gel Pencil Eyeliner has 11 shades to start with.

5. Brushed-Up Brows

Maybe you didn't feel inspired to wear makeup at all while social distancing, and have continued your low-maintenance looks while transitioning from WFH to the office. That's cool. Copying this no-makeup makeup look by Kelsey Deenihan doesn't require too much effort, plus the brushed up brows will enhance your grown-out arches and open up your eyes.

Get the Look: Use a brow pencil like this one from LORAC to fill in any sparse spots, then brush them up into place with a gel like Kosas Air Brow.

6. Inner Corner Eyeshadow

Bold eye makeup is trending, but maybe it's a little too far out of your comfort zone. If you're someone who sticks with neutral shades, but love the look of bright eye makeup, adding a pop of color to the inner corners of the eyes is an easy way to tip your toes into the trend. What's more, you can do this look with virtually any color of eyeshadow or any finish, from matte tangerine like Gigi Hadid or a shimmery silver.

Get the Look: Hadid's makeup artist Patrick Ta didn't reveal the exact product breakdown he used when he shared this look on Instagram, but Anastasia Beverly Hills' Norvina Pro Pigment Palette Vol. 6 for Face & Body has a plethora of shades to play with. For further definition, coat lashes with Maybelline's Volum' Express Colossal Curl Bounce Mascara.

7. Draped Blush

Instead of fighting against the natural flush you get while out in the heat, why not work with it? Enter draped blush, an exaggerated (and gorgeous) method of applying blush made popular in the '70s and '80s.

Get the Look: For Tessa Thompson's dramatic Met Gala look, makeup artist Maud Laceppe used Armani Beauty's Neo Nude A-Blush in 51 for the pop of color and contoured the cheeks with the brand's Neo Nude Melting Colour Balm.

8. Popsicle Stained Lips

Not quite glossy, not quite matte, popsicle stained lips is the most practical way to wear lipstick in the summer. The color is less likely to melt and smear, whether you're wearing a mask or just plain sweaty. Save makeup artist Nina Park's soft cherry lip she did on Daisy Edgar Jones for reference.

Get the Look: Luckily, Park dropped the lipstick she used on Jones: Chanel Rouge Allure L'Extrait in 854. The high intensity color is infused with moisturizing ingredients to keep lips smooth for up to 12 hours.

9. Crystal Eyes

The Euphoria effect is still going strong for summer 2022, with bedazzled eye makeup looks inspired by the hit TV show more popular than ever. Whether you trace your entire eyes with crystals like Samantha Lau did on Dua Lipa or add a tint of sparkle with a single gem at the inner and outer corners of your eyes, the possibilities of this trend are endless.

Get the Look: Go straight to the source and adorn your eyes with gems from Euphoria makeup artist Donni Davy's brand Half Magic. The rhinestones have medical-grade adhesive so they'll stay put all day – or night.

Beat the heat (at least in terms of your makeup) with a frosted eyeshadow look. The beauty of this Y2K-inspired trend is that it applies to any eye makeup style, whether it's a sheer wash of shadow or smoky eye like Doja Cat. Better yet, take a cue from the star's makeup artist Ernesto Casillas and pair the eye makeup with a frosted nude lip.

Get the Look: Casillas reached for Pat McGrath Labs products when getting Doja Cat ready for the 2022 Grammy Awards, including the Mothership VII: Divine Rose Palette.
