Poland’s Karolina Bielawska has been crowned Miss World 2021 at the 70th edition of the beauty pageant at San Juan, Puerto Rico. The 23-year-old beat the USA, Indonesia, Mexico, Northern Ireland and Cote d’Ivoire to claim the crown which was placed on her head by reigning Miss World Toni-Ann Singh of Jamaica. Indian-American Shree Saini representing the USA and Olivia Yacé of Cote D’Ivoire emerged as the first and second runners-up, respectively.

“When I heard my name I was shocked, I still can’t believe it. I am honoured to wear the Miss World crown and can’t wait to get to work. I will remember this amazing chapter in Puerto Rico for the rest of my life,” the new Miss World 2021 told the pageant organisers.

This is the second Miss World title for Poland. Aneta Kręglicka was the first woman from the country to win the pageant back in 1989. Bielawska dazzled in an icy-blue one-shoulder gown at the coronation.

Bielawska, who was crowned Miss Poland in 2019, is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Management and wants to do a PhD as well. For passion, she wishes to become a motivational speaker.

On the work front, Bielawska has done various assignments as a model while also working on a project titled Zupa Na Pietrynie, which offers help to homeless people in times of crisis. The project prepares meals for around 300 homeless people every Sunday, while also providing them medical support.

Helping the people of Poland in their fight against Covid19, the model and social worker organised a pop-up vaccination centre for the homeless who often do not have identity cards.

When not working, Bielawska enjoys swimming, scuba diving and playing tennis and badminton. India’s Manasa Varanasi, meanwhile, stood 11th at the international beauty pageant.
