Stop signs: A friendly reminder from 17 TRW Safety

  • Published
One compelling reason to stop completely at a stop sign or red light is to not get a traffic ticket, but the main reason should be to avoid hitting a pedestrian or another vehicle. That's why drivers stop behind the limit line, at crosswalks and where stops are required when no limit line or crosswalks are present.

The basic rules to remember when stopping at a stop sign or red light are:
  • Stop before the crosswalk or intersection.
  • Do not block the pedestrian crosswalk.
  • A stop sign means that the car must come to a complete stop. Slowing down is not enough.
  • When stopping behind other stopped vehicles, be sure to make another stop at a clearly marked line or before entering the intersection if a stop line is not present.
