The Golden Zebrafish is a handsome comrade, which has its origin in India and Pakistan. Scientifically it is also called Brachdanio rerio and is a breeding variant of the otherwise rather mousy Zebrafish, which we also carry in the store. With its golden appearance and uncomplicated care, the Golden Zebrafish is a popular ornamental fish that quickly swims into the hearts of its keepers.
Like its relatives, the Golden Zebra Wrasse is agile and constantly on the move. Therefore it can be socialized with other rather offensive fishes. Also with invertebrates the socialization is possible, it can happen that careless shrimp young are eaten, but they are not actively hunted. Especially well reproducing species like Neocaridina are suitable.
Because they are real long-distance swimmers and very agile, they should have a lot of space available, your aquarium should have at least 100 cm edge length. Also a cover is obligatory, because the animals can jump very well. The planting should therefore be at the edges and in the background and may also be densely weedy in places, because here the pretty animals retreat to recover. The rest of the furnishing does not play too big a role and can be adapted to the rest of the stock.
Breeding is possible in the aquarium, but it makes most sense to transfer a pair to a spawning aquarium, because the parents chase their spawn. Especially fine fiddly plants and mosses are good for egg laying. The females differ from the males especially with regard to their corpulence. The larvae can later be raised with nauplii.
The omnivorous Golden Zebrafish is not very choosy in feeding and can be fed with commercial flake and dry food without problems. From time to time it also likes live and frozen food such as artemia, mosquito larvae or daphnia.
Our food recommendation: NatureHolic professional main feed is a professional main feed for all aquarium fish. We supply Hauptfeed in the form of soft granules, which, thanks to its grain size of half a millimeter, can be easily ingested by small to medium-sized fish. The soft consistency resembles the texture of insect larvae in nature and protects the fish mouth from micro-injuries.
Our plant recommendation: Use for planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planaria and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
