The actress - who played the title role in the fantasy drama - took to Twitter to hint at a possible comeback for the cult series.
Had an interesting call from a chap who wants to re-invigorate the #Xena brand. You guys may have started something.

However, in a second tweet, Lawless explained that "a lot of red tape" surrounds the rights to Xena and added that the show "may come back in a different form".
The original series, which aired from 1995 to 2001, was a spinoff from Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and starred Lawless as Xena, a former tyrant who attempts to atone for past sins by using her formidable fighting skills to help the innocent.
In the show's two-part finale, the character of Xena was killed off, though Lawless previously expressed a desire to make a film version in 2010.
The New Zealand star's recent credits include stints on Spartacus and Parks and Recreation.
