Former Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony said the Nuggets should have won the NBA title in 2009.
In an Instagram live chat with Dwyane Wade on Friday, Anthony talked about how the 2008-09 Denver squad should have beaten the Lakers en route to a sweep of the Magic that year.
“I was sick. We were supposed to beat them (Lakers) that year. I don’t like saying all that, but when you re-evaluate everything, we would’ve won at Orlando in the finals that year,” he said. “If we get Game 1 in L.A. and Game 2, we going back to Denver and we’re sweeping them. We was going to beat them that year.”
He added: “And we were going to sweep them (Orlando) that year.”
“Orlando was all right, but they weren’t …,” Wade said before Anthony interrupted.
“No, we’d have swept them that year,” Anthony said.
