We all have that friend who is a total beer snob, obsessed with trying out the newest thing in the brewery world. But this is one even they may not be able to get their hands on. Samuel Adams announced the upcoming release of its highly exclusive Utopias beer. This collection is so unique that less than 100 casks of the stuff were made, and it's actually illegal in 15 states.

This beer is so special because it's not like many beers you've tried before. Part of that is because of the way it's made—each beer is barrel-aged and hand-bottled—but it's also because of the result. Sam Adams calls it "America's most extreme beer." It's got a 28 percent ABV (for context, Sam Adams Boston Lager has an ABV of 5 percent and most vodka hovers in the 40 range) and it goes for $210 a bottle. Sam Adams compares it more to a "rich vintage Port or fine Sherry," than the six pack that you're picking up the gas station on the way to a house party.

Because of its high ABV, if you live in Alaska, Arizona, Georgia, Idaho, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Utah, Vermont, or West Virginia, it can't be shipped or sold to your state.

If you are in the market for a multi-hundred dollar bottle of beer, it will be available in select locations starting October 15. It will also be available for the first time at the Samuel Adams Cincinnati Tap Room for a special anniversary event on November 15.

But if that isn't quite in your budget (same here!), you can also enjoy the CollaBEEration, a continually hopped pilsner brewed with Brooklyn and Zambezi honey, which was created by brewers from Sam Adams and Dogfish Head. It'll be available at the Samuel Adams Boston Brewery Taproom and Dogfish Head Milton Brewery starting October 11 for what I assume is a much lower price.
