Elite Model Look 2011 search comes to Singapore

SINGAPORE – Elite Models has returned to Singapore after a five-year hiatus, casting for its Model Look 2011 competition.

A number of events will be held at the Lion City’s highest-end malls in search of Singapore girls aged 14 to 21 who have what it takes to be a world-class supermodel.

Backing Elite Model Look 2011 are a number of brands including presenting sponsor Guess, BMW M supercars, L’Oreal, Rowenta and Elle magazine.

At this stage the sponsorship extends to exposure gained from the roadshow, but there is talk of a one-hour TV special – and a possible reality TV show surrounding future searches.

The annual talent scouting contest will kick off with a series of casting events from 8-23 October 2011 starting at Vivocity, and finishing at Ion Orchard.

Shortlisted hopefuls from the Singapore casting events will compete for 40 semi-final places and will have to impress the Elite Model Look jury for the 15 coveted spots at the Singapore Grand Finals.

Former MTV Asia VP Chris Keely is now managing director, Elite Models Singapore.
He said the competition will provide the girls an opportunity to follow in the footsteps of top supermodels like Linda Evangelista and Cindy Crawford – big names which Elite has discovered and represented.

The company’s commercial director George Sakkalli is also from the TV industry, having headed up ITV in Asia and most recently Power TV.

“Elite is dedicated to discovering and grooming talent and the process starts with identifying promising young hopefuls and integrating them into the Elite network,” Sakkalli said. “The winners are not only selected based on natural beauty but also photogenic qualities, personality, poise and their potential to project current fashion trends. Girls will also have a chance to win the Blueprint Runway Model Award 2012, representing Singapore’s fashion industry across Asia and the world in 2012.”

Executive creative director Eric Ceret added that the Singapore grand finalists will be signed to Elite Model Management Singapore for both regional and international modelling assignments and be initiated into the Elite global agency network.

Elite will select 2 supermodel hopefuls from the 15 finalists in the semi-finals, who will represent Singapore in the Elite international finals held this year in Shanghai and will stand a chance to compete for a contract with Elite Paris and $350,000 in Elite World prize money. 

The Elite Choice judging panel will include esteemed personalities like Michaela Goddard, President, Elite Model Look and Global Head of Scouting; Elite Singapore management; Blueprint; Sharon Lim, Editor of Elle and a surprise celebrity judge.

Apostrophe Digital is the agency behind the contest’s mobile applications, interactive website portals, the Elite Model website, Facebook and other live online pages. 

As part of Elite’s focus on utilising new technology and social media to expand their quest for talent and through its partnership with Guess, potential contestants can also enter the Elite Model Look competition through ‘MiMirror’ located at Guess stores at Paragon, Marina Bay Sands, Ion Orchard and Ngee Ann City.
