Revived Honda S2000 Feels More Aggressive Than Ever, at Least in Fantasy Land

Frankly, we understand that automakers are weary of stepping wrong in any passenger car direction these days. But why Honda is so extra careful with its foray into sports cars is beyond my comprehension.
Sure, one could argue that the automotive industry is overrun and smitten beyond belief with crossovers, SUVs, and trucks. Plus, there's also the EV revolution to account for, indeed. But if Toyota can do it, why can't Honda follow their lead – especially when they could play with sports cars all day long if they allowed some excellent little input from the motorcycle division?

For example, in the United States, Toyota has no less than three dedicated sports cars – the base GR86, which just received a retro-flavored Trueno special edition; the 2024 GR Corolla rocking a new Premium grade; and the return of the feisty Circuit Edition in Blue Flame, plus the GR Supra celebrating its 45th anniversary! On the other hand, Honda only plays with the eternal Civic Type R and nothing else.

Sheesh, don't remind us of the Civic Si because that's just a low-key sports sedan, and also, don't talk about the Acura Integra Type S because otherwise, I'll start bringing into discussion the high-performance offerings from Lexus, too. Anyway, if Honda is afraid to go head-to-head with Toyota or Nissan's Z sports cars, maybe it should just chip away the customer base in a different league. So, how about they recreate the legendary Honda S2000 as a spicy roadster that would spank the Mazda MX-5 Miata all day and night long?

I am pretty sure that will not be possible in the real world – although creating a more powerful model than the Miata ND (121 to 181 hp) isn't that hard to begin with. However, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators feels no such constraints. As such, we noticed Sander Sonts, the graphic designer of automotive ideas tucked behind the disander_concepts moniker on social media, is back with a white treatment for his Honda S2000 revival design proposal.

The first time we saw this idea was back during early summer, and the reinvented Honda S2000 roadster was dressed in the CGI expert's favorite hue – a dark shade of gray that's completely and utterly boring. Luckily, he exited his comfort zone on this occasion and proposed a satin white hue for the digitally aggressive Honda S2000 concept. Thus, now we can see the styling details much better – such as the angry-style front fascia that makes the hypothetical revival a lot sportier than the minimalist original.

On the other hand, the car is easily recognizable as a Honda S2000 instead of a generic two-door open-top sports car. So, it is pretty interesting to notice how the CGI expert integrated the original's likeness into something that looks contemporary with the Porsche 718 Boxster but should have about the same MSRP as a Mazda MX-5 Miata! Cool, right?
