Kate: The Kate Moss Book (Cover may vary) Hardcover – November 6, 2012
Purchase options and add-ons
Created by Kate Moss herself, in collaboration with creative director Fabien Baron, Jess Hallett, and Jefferson Hack, this book is a highly personal retrospective of Kate Moss’s career, tracing her evolution from “new girl with potential” to one of the most iconic models of all time.
KATE: The Kate Moss Book will be released with eight unique covers, shot by Mario Testino, Corinne Day, Inez & Vinoodh, Craig McDean, Mert & Marcus, David Sims, Mario Sorrenti, and Juergen Teller and will be shipped to customers at random.
Kate Moss began modeling as a teenager and achieved recognition when photographs of her shot by Corinne Day appeared in British magazine The Face. She made her so-called “waif” mark as a counterpoint in the 90s to then-dominant, Amazonian supermodels like Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, and Linda Evangelista, and, with countless international magazine covers and fashion features, and campaigns for brands including Calvin Klein, Chanel, Bulgari, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, and Longchamp, has remained one of fashion’s most enduring and influential forces.
Moss’s magic has been captured by the world’s leading photographers, and this volume spans the entirety of her unparalleled career, from model to fashion designer, and muse to icon. Told through images that Moss has personally selected, KATE shows the influence of her collaborations with top photographers and artists over the last two decades, and clearly demonstrates why her career has had, and continues to have, such incredible longevity.
Photography by Arthur Elgort, Corinne Day, Craig McDean, David Sims, Hedi Slimane, Inez & Vinoodh, Juergen Teller, Mario Sorrenti, Mario Testino, Mert & Marcus, Nick Knight, Patrick Demarchelier, Peter Lindbergh, Roxanne Lowit, Steven Klein, Terry Richardson and others
Including many ‘never-before-seen’ images from her own archives and those of the illustrious photographers with whom she has worked, KATE is a must-have for anyone interested in one of the most iconic models in the history of fashion media and modern culture.

Review
"...the Rizzoli book promises an intimate look into into fashion’s leading lady. Indeed her career has been so expansive it’s a wonder they could fit it all into one edition. Not just a model, she has also dabbled in the world of fashion design, and the book encompasses all these things and more, as well as personal images belonging to Moss herself... For a Kate Moss fan, this book really is a must-have." ~dualshow.com
"While fashion has an infamously short memory, the book will make sure no one ever forgets Kate." ~Modern Luxury Dallas
“…the book is a highly personal retrospective of her career, following her trajectory from schoolgirl waif to one of our eras most recognizable and iconic faces.” ~AnOther Magazine
“Kate: The Kate Moss Book is the most exhaustive and compelling pictorial autobiography this reviewer has ever had the pleasure of reading. The format of the book is set up to reveal what lies beyond and beneath the two-dimensional image of one of the most ubiquitous faces and icons of the latter 20th century.
Ms. Moss comes across as honest, quite devoted to her craft, and genuinely lovable in a business whose members it is so easy to loathe. There is no stone left unturned in these pages. She is every woman, every girl, every tomboy, and every sex siren loved by the camera. So many more wildly talented photographers make Kate: The Kate Moss Book the quintessential depiction of one of the most enduring personalities of fashion.
The images are beyond expectation and the sheer stature of the book does everything to solidify Ms. Moss’ place in fashion’s hall of fame. I have never been a fan but am now totally won over by the unbelievable assemblage presented in this homage and visual history of Kate Moss. This is a book that equals its subject matter in quality and grandiosity.“ ~Jeffrey Felner, NY Journal of books
“I can’t wait to peruse the pages of this book; I’ll be in awe of all the iconic imagery. This will be a great addition to my collection.” ~Melissa Magsaysay, Angeleno Magazine
“…a highly personal retrospective of the iconic model’s career, tracing her evolution from “new girl with potential” to one of the most recognizable models of all time. Told through images that Moss personally selected, Kate shows the influence of her collaborations with top photographers and artists over the last two decades...” ~Life + Times
“The Kate Moss Book celebrates the supermodel’s decades-long reign, from fresh-faced teen to grunge goddess to all-around glam icon.” ~ New York Post

The book is massive and almost 400 pages. It is heavy and solid. Flipping through it is like wading through 2 decades of fashion's greatest images. Kate helped select these images and should be commended for choosing images that are not always flattering but are always interesting, Kate on the toilet, Chuck Close's wonderful black and white portraits sans make-up, and numerous shots which I found to be beautiful but the average person might not.
The nudes, black and white, vivid colors, some erotic and some plain, are some of the best images of Kate Moss, because despite reports she cried during the sessions of her earlier nude sets, she seems most comfortable without clothing. Despite enduring judgement, criticism for her weight, scandals involving drug use allegations, and having becoming a mom, Kate Moss is still super successful and beautiful (reportedly earning millions of dollars last year!)
At 38, Kate Moss is still working and beautiful, fascinating and working with some of the most artistic photographers in the business.
The book is amazing for fans of Kate and of fashion and photography. My only criticism is that the book is chock full of images of Kate smoking! Damn, she smokes a ton, lol! Seriously, Kate quit smoking!
As a photographer, I found the book to be so inspirational. The cutting edge work Kate Moss has created over the years is thoroughly on display here and is a compliment to her sensibilities and the great artists she has worked with. Long live Kate Moss! May she work into her 50's. Like my muse, model Liz La Point who is in her 30's, Kate Moss has an eternal youthfulness that promises to last. May she never quit making such bold and daring choices, and may she continue to be apart of the fashion and art world!
This book places Kate Moss in fashion history as one of the greats and I look forward to another volume in 20 years!
On another note, and not Amazon's fault, but rather the publisher. The book arrived in seemingly good shape and was packaged well by Amazon but after I took the plastic off and began flipping through it, I discovered several wrinkled pages and then an actual rip in the middle of one of the pages. I can't decide whether to return it or not because the book is published with 6 different covers and I like the one I got but it does make me irritated that after months of anticipation for this book, it should arrive damaged internally as a result of the printing process or packing process.
The back of the book has tiny versions of each photo with the name of the photographer, magazine it was in, and year. There a few unpublished photos as well. Beautiful photos. The fourth picture, taken by Marcus Piggott, was shocking for me as it was a full front nude of her standing, hands on either side of her ahem as if she was framing it with her two hands.
I also have Kate Moss by Mario Testino, A Day I the Life of Hollywood (If you can find it, get it!) Lady Gaga Terry Richardson and my first being Herb Ritts Notorious.
If you're open-minded and a huge fan of Kate Moss, you will not be disappointed.

KATE, with 446 pages, shows the many faces of Kate Moss through nudes, black and white, vivid colors for over two decades. A must in fashion and in personal libraries. Excludes other iconic pictures, but overall, KATE it's a wonderful and legendary compilation of an Imperfect Supermodel that turned out to be the best supermodel.
(I got the Obsession Calvin Klein cover, My favorite!)
I cannot recommend this book highly enough,I own all the other Kate books, this is the best one by far.
