Eco friendly camp located in the Sine Saloum Delta meant for the sustainable adventure tourism. Within easy reach from Dakar, it is a comfortable base for discovering cultural and natural resources of the region.
The construction of this camp has been promoted by “Campamentos solidarios”, a non- profit organization whose main goal is to contribute to sustainable development in areas of extreme poverty. To achieve our aims we are committed to build and maintain working ecological-touristic camps that generate employment and resources for their surrounding areas. They are built and managed together with local people and are based in areas where economic resources are in short supply but with high ecological, ethnic and cultural value.
The realization, construction, maintenance and management of the camp is carried out by people from the village of Faoye.
Eight beach-side traditional huts (maximum capacity 24 people) provide beautiful views of the Delta of Sine Saloum. The huts are rectangular with a covered porch and bathroom to the side of the cabin. The building is elevated on wooden pillars. At the end of the line of cabins there is a large hut with a four-pitched roof which is the open restaurant-bar. In the centre of the plot you will find a large circular area for dances and festivals. The result is a subtle mix of African village life and western comfort.
The salt-water Sine- Saluom delta is catalogued as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. It is a labyrinth of more than 200 islands covered with mangroves, boababs etc, in winter it is a resting place of many European and African water birds.
