Antonio Corradi

Head of Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Bologna

Antonio Corradi is full professor of computer engineering at the University of Bologna since 2000, in the area of Distributed Systems and Computer Networks. His research interests span from distributed and parallel systems to middleware for pervasive and heterogeneous computing, from cloud solutions and standards to mobile systems and social applications for smart cities, and from industry 4.0 support systems and protocol to smart city monitoring and crowdsourcing, from novel communication standards to system monitoring and management. In these areas, he has always taught and still teaches in basic and advanced courses in all areas related to computer infrastructures and support. He is the chair of DISI and of the Emilia Romagna CLUST-ER for service innovation, very involved in internationalization and technology transfer.

 

Dario Croccolo

Head of Interdepartmental Center for Industrial Research in Advanced Mechanical Engineering Applications and Materials Technology, University of Bologna

Dario Croccolo is a Full Professor at the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Bologna. He received the ‘Robert Hooke’ award from the EURASEM Society (European Society for Experimental Mechanics) on 4 July 2018. He is also the author of about 200 works including seven monographs (two of these with international circulation), three contributions in internationally circulation book chapters, memoirs presented at national and international conferences, and articles in national and international journals of which 94 have been reviewed. Alfredo Liverani

Director of Second Cycle Degree of Mechanical Engineering, University of Bologna

Prof. Ing. Alfredo Liverani is a Full Professor in Design and Methods of Industrial Engineering at the University of Bologna. In February 2000 he got a Ph.D. degree discussing a final thesis titled “A Virtual Reality System for Engineering Design”. The main research activities concern Computer Graphics, CAE, and MEthods for Industrial Engineering, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Live, and Constructive Simulation. Since 2002 he is in this current position at the University of Bologna.

Andrea Lodi

Full Professor, Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Information Engineering “Guglielmo Marconi”, University of Bologna

Andrea Lodi is a Full Professor  in the Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Information Engineering at the University of Bologna.He received his PhD in System Engineering from the University of Bologna in 2000 and he was a Herman Goldstine Fellow at the IBM Mathematical Sciences Department, NY in 2005–2006. His main research interests are in Mixed-Integer Linear and Nonlinear Programming and Data Science and his work has received several recognitions including the IBM and Google faculty awards. He is the author of more than 100 publications in the top journals of the field of Mathematical Optimization and Data Science.

Lorenzo Marconi

Director of First Cycle Degree of Mechatronics Engineering, University of Bologna

Lorenzo Marconi is a Full Professor in the Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Information Engineering at the University of Bologna. Lorenzo Marconi attended the Electrical Engineering bachelor’s degree at the University of Bologna from 1990 to 1995 and graduated with honors in 1995. From 1995 to 1998 he was a doctoral student at the same University and obtained a Ph.D. degree in Automatic Control in 1998. Between 1999 and 2005 he has been an Assistant Professor at the University of Bologna. In this University he was appointed as Associate Professor in 2005 and as Full Professor since January 2016.

Claudio Melchiorri

Claudio Melchiorri is a Full Professor in robotics and automation control since 2002 at the Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Information Engineering at the University of Bologna. His main research interests are in robotic hands, sensors, actuators, trajectory planning, and nonlinear control.

Alberto Montanari

Head of Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental, and Materials Engineering, University of Bologna

Alberto Montanari has a background in civil engineering and holds a Ph.D. in hydrology. His research activity focuses on the estimation of design variables and the development of schemes and theoretical principles for designing infrastructures for river basin management and the mitigation of natural hazards. He authored more than 100 scientific papers published in international journals. He is a consultant for public bodies for environmental restoration and mitigation of flood risk. He has been awarder the Union Service Award by the European Geosciences Union, the fellowship by the American Geophysical Union, the Darcy Medal by the European Geosciences Union , the William Kaula Award by the American Geophysical Union and the Dooge Medal by the International Association of Hydrological Sciences/UNESCO/WMO. He has been editor for several scientific journals.

Enrico Al Mureden

Enrico Al Mureden is a Full Professor in the Department of Legal Studies at the University of Bologna. His major research themes are related to Family Patrimonial Law, Inheritance Law, Tort Law, and Product Liability.

Giovanni Pau

Full Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Bologna

Computer science Professor Giovanni Pau decided to teach without a salary after the department was forced to make cuts. He agreed to continue teaching because of the rewarding experiences he has gained from it. Previously he served as ATOS/Renault smart mobility Chair-Professor at the Sorbonne Université Paris, France. Before joining Sorbonne he was senior research Scientist at UCLA Computer Science Department where he still retains the title of Adjunct Faculty. Dr. Pau holds the “Habilitation à diriger des recherches” (HDR) granted by the Sorbonne Universitè in 2018. He was awarded the Italian Laura degree in Computer Science, the PhD in Computer Engineering by the University of Bologna in 1998 and 2002 respectively. Dr Pau published over 100 peer reviewed papers in scientific journals and international conferences.

Lorenzo Peretto

Director of Second Cycle of Electrical Energy, University of Bologna

Lorenzo Peretto is a Professor of Electrical and Electronic Measurements at the University of Bologna, Italy. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and a member of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society. He is Chairman of the annual IEEE Applied Measurements for Power System Conference. His fields of research are the design and calibration of voltage and current instrument transformers (LPIT) for medium and high voltage power networks; the design and realization of calibration systems of voltage and current instrument transformers; measurements of electrical quantities in power networks.

Riccardo Rovatti

Riccardo Rovatti is a Full Professor in the Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Information Engineering at the University of Bologna. He received his M.S. degree (summa cum laude) in Electronic Engineering and his Ph.D. in Electronics, Computer Science and Telecommunications from the University of Bologna in 1992 and 1996 respectively. Since 2012 he is a full professor of Electronics at the same university. His interests are in the theory and application of mathematical statistics to signal to process in Information Engineering. He is the author of more than 300 international papers and 2 volumes.

Andrea Simone

Prof. Andrea Simone (M), Full Professor, has completed is Honours degree in Civil Engineering Sec. Transport at the University of Bologna in July, 1995 where he also obtained his PhD in Transportation Engineering in April 1999. From July 2000 to December 2004 he has been Researcher at the University of Bologna. In 2005 he became Associate Professor and finally from May 2020 he is full Professor of “Roads, Railways and Airport Engineering” at the University of Bologna. From 2003 to 2007 he has been Professor of Roads, Railways and Airports Construction at the University of Bologna. Since 2010 he is Professor of Uncertainty and Risk in Transportation Systems at the University of Bologna (Master Degree 2 years course – Civil Engineering in English). He has served on European and international (AIPCR-PIARC) technical committees. His main research areas are Road pavement materials, maintenance and design of pavement infrastructures, Road Safety Analysis, road design and human factor interaction.
