HBO has ordered “Vice Principals,” a new comedy series from Danny McBride, the premium cabler announced Wednesday.

The show is slated for 18 episodes, with a debut date pending. It will follow the story of a high school and the vice principals who almost run it.

“Vice Principals” marks the return of McBride to HBO, following the conclusion of his previous comedy “Eastbound & Down’s” four-season run on the network last year. The new skein is created by McBride and Jody Hill, who also were the creators of “Eastbound & Down.”

“Danny McBride and Jody Hill have created a smart, rowdy and unpredictable style of comedy that we can’t get enough of,” said Michael Lombardo, HBO’s programming president, in a statement. “The idea of them setting their minds on high school was irresistible.”

“HBO was the perfect creative family for ‘Eastbound & Down,’ and we’re excited to pack up the van for the next adventure,” added McBride.
