Water, Citrus spp. : A quick insight of their benefits

Good day beautiful people, it’s another time in my blog where we get to talk about something. It’s been a while I discussed something related to health…so today I will be putting up some importance of citrus fruits and also water.

I decided to write on these because although they are simple and known, we most times forget these facts and therefore makes us take for granted the need for them.

I will start with the latter; Water.

There is no doubting the fact that water is essential for life and living. An approximate of 60% of the body’s weight is made of water. And as we take part in our daily routines of life, we lose this important liquid therefore creating a need to need water again. I’m not here to tell much stories so let’s get down to business; what are the functions of water in the body;

Protection of the body’s tissues, and joints;

You know that feeling when your lip, nostrils are dry? Well let’s put that water prevent areas like your join, tissues and even the spinal cord from experiencing thing like that.

Removal of waste:

Water help the kidney and liver to flush out toxic substance from the body. Water is also found in the intestine with the purpose of allowing the food to pass through the tracks. It also softens stools.

Body temperature regulations:

Water helps the body to give out heat in the form of sweating and then the evaporation of that same water helps cools the skin.

In summary, ensure you are always hydrated. Do not wait for your body to signal you with the thirst signal before taking water...at that point, it is already getting to an emergency situation. Take water before going to sleep so as to enable the body carry out any metabolic activities it wants to.

Let’s move on to the next section of the write up: CITRUS FRUITS.
Originally a native of Australia, and south east Asia, citrus fruits are now cultivated in subtropical cilmates all over planet earth. Here are some examples of citrus fruits;
Orange

Clementine

Lime

Grapes

Lemon

Now let’s talk about their function/uses in the body:

VITAMINS:

Once the term fruits is said, what comes to mind is vitamins and that’s true. Citrus spp. Is very rich in vitamin C; an immune booster and skin enhancer

FIBRE:

Fibre is essential for aiding digestion of food and citrus spp. Provides a very rich content of this. Oranges in particular have high fibre and helps reduce cholesterol level.

HYDRATION:

Citrus spp. Have a very high water content (87%). So taking them keeps you hydrated and quench your thirst

VISION:

You might not know this but citrus spp. Like orange have carotenoid compounds that can be converted to vitamin A

BREATH:

Using orange as an example again, studies have shown that an orange peel tea promotes oral hygiene and reduces bad breath.

These are some...not all of the benefits of citrus fruits. What are you waiting for?? Go get one and start living healthy.
