16 hilarious wildlife photos that show nature can be goofy too

When you ask anyone to talk about the Earth's wildlife, you'll probably get a super cliché description. Something that probably revolves around how majestic and beautiful the world's creatures are.

But like us humans, wildlife can get caught in hilarious situations, provided you snap a photo of them at the perfect (or rather, imperfect) moment.

The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards serve exactly that purpose, celebrating the funny side of (wild)life.

42 photos have made it into the final shortlist for this year's competition, with more than 7,000 entries submitted from all over the world in 2021.

The awards, founded by photographers Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam, serve to promote wildlife conservation through the universal language and reach of humor. And quite frankly, that's a brilliant idea.

"The huge number of images we receive every year illustrates the appetite there is to engage with conservation and reminds us that wildlife truly is incredible and hilarious, and we must do all we can to protect it," said Joynson-Hicks.

"Whittling down the list of photographs was harder than ever this year. It was great to see a range of animals, from the incredibly rare to the humble pigeon."
