Felipe Guaman Poma de Ayala

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felipe_Guaman_Poma_de_Ayala   was one of the first native Americans to write extensively about his Inca ancestors http://civilizacaoinca.blogspot.com/p/cultura.html

“In his book, Nueva Coronica y Buen Gobierno, Poma de Ayala narrated that the first native Americans came to the New World shortly after the universal flood.  He attributed his knowledge to information contained in their (Incas) quipos as well as the folk tales of the elderly Indian men and women living during his time.  He wrote that these first people, who were called to this land by God and they spread out over the New World in pairs.  Poma de Ayala further narrated that these people eventually lost their faith and hope in God and they also lost their writings and commandments of God.  They retained vague oral traditions of their creator and the heavens.  These people did not know from whence they came nor how they arrived.  They did not remember whether their ancestors survived the flood with Noah, but they knew of a flood and they considered it a punishment sent by God.” – David G. Calderwood, Voices From The Dust.

“Poma De Ayala claimed that these Vari Viracocha Runa worshiped *Ticci Viracocha and *Pachacamac.  From among the Indians of Vari Viracocha Runa, there came many great men.  He had the highest praise for the Vari Viracocha Runa people because ‘they had light and knowledge of the Creator of heaven and earth’.  Poma de Ayala wrote that the second generation was called Pacarimoc Runa because the people were generally inept. They did not make fine clothing, but covered themselves with animal skins.  The Pacarimoc Runa greatly multiplied.  From Poma de Ayala’s description, it appears that the people split into two groups-those who farmed and worshiped God and those who were inept.  Poma de Ayala’s division of the Pacarimoc Runa into two groups appears to be more like the Book of Mormon description of the descendants of Lehi into the two groups of Nephites and Lamanites execpt for Poma De Ayala’s timing of division.”

-David G. Calderwood, Voices From The Dust.

*Ticci Viracocha and Pachacamac were individually described as the Creator  of the World and were held in great reverence by all Andean Indians.  Generally they are referred to separately, but occasionally  their names are linked.   The temple of Pachacamac, south of Lima, was built by an unknown people long before the Incas arrived on the scene.  When the Incas wanted to replace the Temple of Pachacamac with a  temple of the sun, the Indians of the area objected so strenuously that the Inca left the temple of Pachacamac intact and built a temple to the sun nearby.  It may be the name Ticci Viracocha was the name the Incas from Cuzco gave to the Creator of the World, and Pachacamac  was the name applied to the same Creator by the non-Inca Andeans.

It makes me wonder what causes a man to give up on God? At times this life can be difficult. I really think in my case, I make my life harder than necessary through my pride, selfishness and quick temper/lack of patience. Exercising your faith isn’t always easy, but when I feel the Holy Ghost while listening to modern day God’s servants, the prophets speak, I feel compelled to keep trying. My heart is softened and I can almost see this invisible heaven beckoning me to push forward. It is very apparent to me during these times how much work I have to be more like the great examples I have around me. This thought can cause some anxiety, but during the moment I remember what I am and how I KNOW it to be. I am a dad, and I love my children. God is my father and he loves me more. No questions asked. If my babies were trying and needing a little help from me, I would give it in a second because of the over powering love I have for my children. if this is true and I feel the burning within; me, a far shot out from a perfect and complete Deity. I know my Father is willing to work with me until I am whole and complete ” 6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Plowing ahead is all I can do and I will hope for the best.
