Nice change of look

The fashionable Sony Ericsson S500i is now offered in a new color version, Steel Silver, which makes the phone look better than did all the other colors available until now: Spring Yellow, Mysterious Green, Ice Purple and Contrasted Copper.

Released in the summer of 2007, the S500i doesn't have too many advanced features, being firstly a handset created to attract users with its look. The phone comes in a slider form factor, weighs 94 grams and, when closed, measures 99 x 47 x 14 millimeters. Due to its design, S500i targets young users, but this doesn't mean those who are no longer young cannot buy it.

Sony Ericsson S500i offers a 2.0 inch TFT display with 240 x 320 pixels and 256K colors, Music player with support for MP3, AAC, AAC+ and eAAC+, TrackID for easy music recognition, nice graphic themes, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, WAP 2.0 and NetFront browsers, mobile email, Instant Messaging, RSS reader, USB, Java MIDP 2.0, handsfree, 12 MB of internal memory, microSD card support and a 2 Megapixel camera with video recording, which allows users to take decent quality photos. One of S500i's drawbacks is the fact that it's not 3G-enabled, providing only quad-band GSM connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with GPRS and EDGE.

Sony Ericsson made no announcement regarding the availability of S500i in Silver, but since the handset appears on the SE official website, along with the other versions, I guess it will soon hit the stores. The phone's price will most surely remain the same (about 190 Euros, without any contract).

The new color of S500i was unveiled by Sony Ericsson after other two handsets came with fresh looks: W580i and K660. This is obviously a good marketing strategy from the Swedish-Japanese producer, as more options for users are always welcome, since they usually boost the sales.
