Duckstein Rotblond Original

This is a new beer which was given to me as a gift by my inlaws. A nice light lager from the Duckstein Brewery in Konigslutter am Elm ( a small town just to the south of Berlin ) The brewery was founded in the 17th Century and was situated on the banks of Lutter which supplied the water for the beer, The water was enriched by its high mineral content notably Calcium and Hydrogen Cabonate . The Lutter is a natural spring which consisted largely of limestone . The rock like material was also known as Duckstein, this is where the brewery takes it name.

There are several beers which are available and I have tried the Rotblond Original. This weighs in at a suitable 4.9% ABV. The beer is slightly amber , almost mahogany in colour and has a small but distinctive white foamy head. The lager malt for the beer is quite prominent on the nose and the first sip is clean and fresh with a slight sweetness to it . The beer is a decent tipple but not excitingly overwhelming . Certainly a session beer which is very clean on the palate and indeed very acceptable.
