The virtual Miss Earth 2021 competition concluded on November 21 with Belize’s Destiny Wagner winning the crown, making history as the first from her country to win a Big5 title.
The 25-year-old entrepreneur and author from Punta Gorda bested 87 other delegates for the crown previously held by USA’s Lindsey Coffey.
“My country has never placed at Miss Earth before nor have we ever had an international crown. So right now, this is what we needed and I am happy to represent such a gorgeous country. I am overwhelmed right now with emotions. The words and the gratitude, it’s very hard to express. But I am thankful. I am thankful for the Miss Earth Organization and thankful for my team as well,” Wagner said.
USA’s Marisa Butler was named Miss Earth Air. Chile’s Romina Denecken and Thailand’s Baitong Jareerat Petsom settled for the Miss Earth Water and Miss Earth Fire elemental crowns, respectively.
The rest of the Top 8 were the Netherlands’ Saartje Langstraat, Philippines’ Naelah Alshorbaji, Russia’s Anastasia Almyasheva, and Venezuela’s María Daniela Velasco.
After successfully mounting its 20th edition virtually last year, the Miss Earth pageant decided to go with another virtual format for 2021. “The safety of the delegates, the production staff, and the public is still paramount for the organization, and will not, in any way, put anyone involved with the event at risk,” the organization said.
