I came to Marea for a special occasion and was absolutely blown away by the food and service. The waiter was extremely attentive and kind. Our food was very delicious, and I like the unique flavor combinations they have for their pastas.
I think all the pastas are made well. the flavors are good and the texture of the noodles is good. I got the duck too, which was exquisite. So flavorful, perfectly cooked, and the thickness of the cut of meat with the crispy and fatty skin was beyond words.
I also enjoyed dessert and how special they made the occassion with their anecdotes. I would highly recommend coming to Marea!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Tae Ho K.Englewood, NJ595146Apr 7, 2024
** It's not the same as used to be! **
** Do not go earlier than 12 PM for your lunch appointment!! They do not let you in before 12PM eventhough its freezing outside! (점심: 12시 전에 가지 마세요. 추워도 문 안 열어조요 **
FOOD: 4 (It's good, but for my taste, pasta wasn't impressive. Appetizers & Desert was very nice!)
SERVICE: 3.7 (Service not same as used to be)
DECOR: 4 (It's nice... Need some upgrade. Have seen the same design for over 6 years.) Became more tourist sight and place got louder. Used to be quit relaxing & nice dressed cusomers.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Conscience C.Manhattan, NY15130209Mar 30, 2024
Service is excellent. Loved the Hamachi, which was perhaps the star. The scallops were good as well. Marea really aced the desert. My sole quibbles were the limited selections of whole fish, cauliflower that had lost its heat and the white wine, which got was served in a glass I would have expected for red. I need to research this last point.
Overall, it's a good restaurant. Great wine list by the glass, too.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 30, 2024
Our waiter Robert was very knowledgeable and detailed and gave us a thorough run down of the menu since it was my first time. He gave us enough time but checked in on us frequently to ensure we had no questions with the menu (we were taking some time to decide!). Everything was delicious. Even though they're know for their fusilli (among others), I didn't enjoy it much. It could also be because I asked for it to be served without the bone marrow. I preferred the casarecce instead. Tiramisu was one of a kind! I loved the decor and fell in love with the simple, blue vases. Will be returning for sure to try out other dishes.

Finally found a good Italian place in nyc that beats my favorite Italian restaurant in LA (Osteria Mozza). Marea came highly recommended from my friend who said it was his favorite restaurant in nyc, and this place lived up to its hype
I found my FAVE dish of all time and that is none other than the infamous lobster burrata, that was mind-blowingly good the burrata paired perfectly with the lobster.
My second fave was the infamous octopus fusilli. Pasta was flavorful, texture was perfectly chewy, and the octopus portion was quite generous.
We also got the pan seared scallops, and they were super buttery and soft!
The only dish that I didn't like was the Branzino tartare. It tasted like an Asian style Branzino thing? The flavor just didn't go that well... for $32 a pop, would definitely skip this.
Last but not least- the tiramisu here was literally the BEST tiramisu I've ever had in my life
10/10 dining experience and I'm so happy to have the opportunity to try it
Service: very attentive waiter/waitresses. Top notch service.
Ambiance: upscale and classy.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 7, 2024
I came here for dinner with a large group on a Thursday evening.
We ordered small plates and appetizers to share, and I wasn't very impressed by the appetizers and found them extremely overpriced.
I do appreciate that the restaurant had some delicious mocktails as I didn't want to drink that night. The service was friendly.
After appetizers, I personally ordered the octopus fusili with bone marrow (~$45 a plate). I thought the octopus was good but a bit chewy and slightly under seasoned. I unfortunately did not enjoy the fusili and thought it was underdone.
On a whim, I ended up ordering their pear dessert, which was fantastic. I'm not normally a dessert person, but I was impressed by the different textured (candied pear shape, graham cracker, sorbet, fruit) that came with it. It was refreshing and not too sweet and looked great! I finished with a mint tea that used fresh-picked mint leaves, which I really enjoyed as well,
Overall, I'm glad I tried their iconic octopus fusilli, but I wouldn't come back for it. Don't overlook the smaller items on their menu I guess.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 24, 2024
I had been to Marea years ago and while expensive, it was worth every penny. Delicious pastas and a sleek arty atmosphere. Not the same experience this time. We sat at the bar in seats that felt like you were tilting down and out. Wads of money spent for too little oomph, and shards in our oysters. That should never be but certainly not at $30/6.

The food and service here are amazing. I had the lobster burrata, fusilli octopus, and grilled sirloin, and the tiramisu for dessert. Highly recommend all off the above. The portions were surprisingly large so don't worry that you'll be leaving hungry.

Went here for lunch this week with a client and it was the perfect pick. We had a 12pm reservation (they opened at 12) and by 1pm the restaurant was completely packed, mainly with people in business attire (a lot of suits).
We had drinks, a few of the crudo dishes and other fish dishes. My favorite was the tuna crudo. Tuna crudo is a stample for me to order, and this was my favorite that I can remember. It was filled with pistachios and spices which made the texture and taste divine!
Can't wait to come back to check out some more dishes and desserts.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
