BMW‘s 2002 Turbo was a pioneering automotive achievement when it released in the ’70s, and now a very clean 1974 5-speed version is up for auction with Bring a Trailer.

The German classic was Europe’s first turbocharged production car and went on to serve as the foundation for BMW’s now-legendary M division. This 2002 Turbo on offer is just one of 1,672 built, and is finished in the highly desirable “Chamonix” white paint job with tri-colored “Turbo” livery — much like this 1975 model that was sold in 2018.

Other notable features on the BMW 2002 Turbo include its factory-fitted wheel arches, its trunk lip spoiler, the fiberglass air dam, and the set of black steel wheels. It is powered by a turbocharged and fuel-injected two-liter inline-four that’s mated to a Getrag close-ratio five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, which come together to offer an old-school, analog driving experience. When new, the 2002 Turbo produced 170 HP with 173 lb-ft of torque, which was good for a 0-60 MPH time of seven seconds.

Take a look at the 1974 BMW 2002 Turbo in the gallery above, and check out the full listing on Bring a Trailer. The current bid is sitting at $120,000 USD and the listing is due to end at 4 p.m. EST today.

In other news, Liberty Walk has built a Nissan GT-R-inspired Daihatsu Copen.
