Frogs and toads come in a variety of sizes. They are generally only a few inches long but some can grow huge. Take a look at the 10 largest frogs and toads in the world.

10) The Smoky Jungle Frog (Leptodactylus pentadactylus) that maxes out at 7.1 inches long. It is closely related to another frog on the list. They are found in  Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Peru, and Suriname

9) The Surinam Horned Frog (Ceratophrys cornuta) measures out to a maximum of 7.9 inches long. They are relatively common in the pet trade. They are found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela.

8) The American Bullfrog (Rana catesbianus) is the largest frog in North America. It can grow to 8 inches long.

7) The Mountain Chicken Frog (Leptodactylus fallax) from the Caribbean, can reach the size of 8.7 inches. It is a relative of the Smoky Mountain Frog

6) The African Bullfrog (Pyxicephalus adspersus) comes from southern Africa. The males of the species can grow  to 9 inches long.

5) The highly invasive Cane Toad (Rhinella marina) can reach 9.4 inches long , which is why they are such a problem. They are native to Central and South America but they have spread around the world.

4) The Blyth’s River Frog (Limnonectes blythii) can reach 10.2 inches long. It is the largest frog in Asia.

3) Lake Junin Frog (Telmatobius macrostomus) is found in Peru. They can reach a foot long.

2) The Chilean Giant Frog or Helmeted Water Toad (Calyptocephalella gayi) lives up to its name. It is 12.5 inches long , making it the longest frog in South America. As the name suggests, it lives in Chile.

1) The Golitiah Frog (Conraua goliath) is the largest frog in the world. It can grow up to 12.6 inches long. They are found in Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. They are listed as Endangered by the IUCN Red List.
