BOTOX® Cosmetic is a prescription medicine (neurotoxin) that is injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the look of lines caused from expression. It works by blocking nerve impulses directly to the injected muscles. With real, noticeable results, no surgery and no recovery time it is a perfect choice for many patients. The procedure is considered a safe, effective way of treating aging skin. Common areas for BOTOX® injections include horizontal forehead furrows, vertical lines between the eyebrows and “crow’s feet” around the eyes. BOTOX® has proven to be the best non-surgical form of facial rejuvenation and is capable of producing phenomenal improvements in your appearance.

BOTOX® has also been approved in the U.S. and by the FDA for treating excessive axillary hyperhidrosis (underarm sweating). BOTOX® is used to block the nerve signals responsible for sweating, stopping the sweat glands from producing too much sweat. Additional treatments are typically needed in four to six months, as the nerves regenerate. Over time, however, patients can go longer between treatments. Treatment involves the injection of 50 units in each armpit for a total of 100 units. This treatment usually involves applying a topical numbing ointment prior to injection. The cost of this procedure would be $1000 (a discounted rate per unit).

BOTOX® works by blocking the impulses from the nerve to the facial muscles, thereby relaxing them. The result is the underlying facial muscles relax and the skin begins to smooth out. The effects of a BOTOX® treatment will last approximately three months after which the client may choose to repeat the procedure. Patients generally return to their normal activities, however patients should avoid engaging in heavy physical exercise, applying cosmetics, or laying down flat for a minimum of 4 hours after the injections. It is also advisable to avoid rubbing or massaging the injected area for at least 24 hours.
