On 15 June 2023, the Banque Centrale de Mauritanie unveiled designs for a new 50-ouguiya note to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the ougiya currency.
The same design will be issued on three different substrates: polymer center between paper (Durasafe by Landqart), paper with sisal (Oberthur), and paper center between polymer (Hybrid by Louisenthal).
