Pointers Wrap Up Day Two at Bethel Classic

MAPLE PLAIN, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point men's golf team finished day two action at the Bethel 2023 Minnesota Golf Classic in 15th place. The Pointers recorded a round two score of 306 and a round three score of 315.

Tournament: Bethel 2023 Minnesota Golf Classic
Location: Pioneer Creek Golf Club, Maple Plain, Minn.
UWSP: 15th out of 16
 
Top UWSP Individual: Josh Brogren (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn Area) had a productive day as he shot a 73 (+1) in round two and a 75 (+3) in round two. Brogren finished tied for 67th with four other golfers and shot a 228 on the weekend.
Notables: Connor Schaefer (Greenville, Wis./Hortonville) posted a 76 (+4) and a 79 (+7), posting a 230 on the weekend tied for 74th. Ethan Mehlberg (Junction City, Wis./Wisconsin Valley Lutheran) and Joe Warpechowski (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) both finished tied for 98th on the weekend as Mehlberg registered an 80 (+8) and 81 (+9) while Warpechowski added a 77 (+5) and 80 (+8) to his totals.

Tournament Highlights
Top Team: Host Bethel stood pat as they secured the invite victory after posting team score of 295 and 283 in Sunday's rounds. Bethel finished with three golfers in the top 35 and accumulated a team score of 865.
Top Individual: Trey Diehl from Furman secured first place after posting a 72 (E) and 67 (-5) on day two. From the Division III teams, Conor Schubring led Bethel to a first-place finish after shooting a 73 (+1) and a 67 (-5) to wrap up the weekend with an overall score of 211 (-5).
