Tractorul neighbourhood (Braşov)

Romania / Brasov / Braşov
 neighbourhood, invisible

Literal translation: "the Tractor" - named after the old aviation factory nearby, transformed after WW2 in a large tractor production center.

"A gray, apartment-building dominated neighborhood, built since the 1950s, to accomodate the new workers arriving from the countryside. It is composed of one main axle - Independence street, that connects 13 December street with Grivitei bridge, surrounded by mostly 4-story high modular apartment buildings; a large part only have one-room apartments, initially used by single persons, which, after 1990, started families in these homes, leading to a serious degradation of living standards; it is not the safest and most elegant neighborhood in Brasov, but recent investments in commercial areas, parking space systematization and thermal insolation of buildings, corroborated with the considerably large number of houses built to the north, give the zone a new perspective." "This part of Brasov was built from the ground when the factory Tractorul was built, so the workers from other places, could have a place to live while working at the factory." (User blabla23)
